About the Department

The Head of the Department of CSE is proud to speak about this department of Asansol Engineering College. The Department of CSE started its journey from 1998 with an intake of 40 students. The intake was increased to 60 in the year 1999. It was further increased to 90 in 2001 and to 120 in 2009. The present intake is 240. The Department has dedicated teachers who are constantly endeavoring hard to educate and train students as per the demands of today's IT industry. The teachers are also encouraging students to take up projects in upcoming research areas to improve their knowledge in advanced topics. The department has produced many brilliant students over the years, who have bagged prestigious jobs in India and abroad. Some has even bagged jobs in research organizations such as IBM Research Lab, Microsoft Research Lab etc. Many students clear GATE exams every year and are going for higher studies and pursue M.Tech. in Institutions of repute. Some of our bright students are also pursuing M.S. in foreign Universities. The Department congratulates the brightest minds who have already initiated their own startup companies and wishes them good luck to become future leaders. Asansol Engineering College boasts of its excellent placement record over the years and the Department of CSE has been the leader in terms of placement.

The Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) is proud to speak about this department. The Department started in1998. The Department has produced brilliant students over the years. The students bag prestigious jobs in India and abroad. Many students clear GATE every year and some qualify in Institutions like IITs, NITs, Jadavpur University and IIEST Shibpur to pursue M.Tech. degree. Some of our students are also pursuing M.S. in foreign Universities. The Department has dedicated teachers who constantly endeavor hard to educate and train students as per the demands of the IT industry. The Department conveys best wishes to all those who have become entrepreneurs and own startup companies. Asansol Engineering College boasts of its excellent placement record over the years and this Department has been the leader in this aspect. I invite the brightest of minds to take admission in our college and opt for CSE to have a great career ahead.

Programme Outcomes (PO)

  • Engineering Knowledge : Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
  • Problem Analysis : Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching ubstantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
  • Design/Development of Solutions : Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
  • Conduct Investigations of Complex Problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
  • Modern Tool Usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
  • The Engineer and Society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
  • Environment and Sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.
  • Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.
  • PO9. Individual and Team Work: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, such as, being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.
  • Project Management and Finance: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the engineering and management principles and apply these to one’s own work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments.

After the completion of B.Tech course in Computer Science and Engineering, the students will be able to perform the following:

  • Attain the ability to design efficient algorithms for developing hardware and software based systems.
  • Apply standard software engineering approach and be able to use modern tools for solving real life problems.
  • Apply the acquired proficiency to become successful technocrats and entrepreneurs as well as engage in research work in emerging fields of Computer Science and Engineering .
