The Electrical Engineering department was set up with a vision of producing high quality technical manpower needed by today’s electrical sector. To accomplish its goals the department has been imparting quality education. Attempts are made to optimize research and improve everything constantly. Electrical Engineering Department integrates scientific principles with practically oriented research, providing systems and process that themselves create ways of acquiring new knowledge. The department has been constantly encouraging its students to engage in extracurricular and co-curricular activities essential for development, nurturing of team spirit and developing organizational skills.

The department of Electrical Engineering at Asansol Engineering College offers a vibrant atmosphere for learning and research in the field of Electrical Engineering. Established in the year 1998 currently the department offers an Under Graduate program B. Tech in Electrical Engineering with an annual intake of 120 students and a Post Graduate program M. Tech in Electrical Engineering with an annual intake of 13 students.

The department is headed by Dr. R. Sarkar, having 18 years of experience in teaching. The faculty cadre in the department is a rich blend of personnel with industrial and professional experience. The dedicated staff members have sound knowledge in emerging areas of Electrical and allied engineering domains. The breadth and depth of the research interests of the academic staff ensures a high standard of lecture courses and provides excellent opportunities for challenging and stimulating final year projects. Individual lecturers supplement their delivery using blackboards, overhead projectors and video projection. All the faculty members are encouraged to participate in Faculty Development Programmes, Conferences, Workshops, Publication of Research Papers and active involvement in R & D activity.

For employability, graduates of the department appear as one of the first choice of employers. Studying EE will lead to potential careers in the areas of Research & Development (R&D), design, systems analysis, installation and commissioning, process engineering, control and maintenance, manufacturing, quality assurance and testing, information technology, programming, consultancy, management and software engineering.

The EE department conducts several conferences, seminars, workshops and other competitions on regular basis, these provide a platform for students as well as faculty members to share their views and experience among industrialists, fellow researchers and academicians in the emerging areas of electrical engineering. In collaboration with IE(I), a series of projects were executed in the varied field of electrical engineering by students and faculty members.

  1. To produce engineering graduates possessing sound fundamental knowledge of electrical engineering and other allied disciplines.
  2. To develop quality employable manpower for industries and entrepreneurs.
  3. To encourage students for higher studies and research in varies fields of electrical engineering.
  4. To create technocrats for contributing effectively towards societal development.
  5. To inculcate moral and ethical values among the faculty and students.
